fast-forward exactly 1 year, and you'll be stuck there for a LONG time, if you haven't been already. one of the greatest shows they ever played.

Ah yes, 2/24/74... I put that one on yesterday as a matter of fact. As great as that show is, I actually found -- except for the big jams -- that it lags in some spots. Even PITB seemed a little lackluster. The China> Rider is excellent, however, and I remember thinking yesterday that this is one of the best versions of Let It Grow that I've ever heard. Dark Star> Dew speaks for itself, though I'd say the Dew is probably the better half of that combo.

I do agree about the PITB. There's a spark missing that doesn't propel this one into the realm of greatness that so many other versions have reached. I find the rest of the show to be total ecstasy though, and that makes up for it. There's a vibe to this show that can't be put into words, and it really draws me in. The slower songs are just soooooo sweet. Candyman, Ship of Fools, Row Jimmy, and Baby Blue are some of my favorite versions ever played. They have that vibe, that I wish I could describe. The playing is exquisite. I suppose exquisite is the best word to describe those songs. Equisite: "marked by flawless craftsmanship or by beautiful, ingenious, delicate, or elaborate execution"

Yea I was certainly enjoying it. I also wish we had that whole show. The sound quality for that phil jam is awesome.
